The Nikolai Church, a three-nave Gothic building, was built between the 13th and 16th centuries. The church was first mentioned in 1307. The current church, a Gothic hall church, was built in three phases. The work on the towers - which can still be climbed today - was not completed until after 1500. Besides the Tetzel box in the baptistery, which is worth seeing, the church also contains an old Gothic winged altar and a majestic organ, which was originally a Wagner organ but was rebuilt by Rührmann at the beginning of the 20th century. The brochure has been preserved.
From the tower height you can enjoy an indescribable panoramic view over the city. The size of the church and the magnificent painting are impressive evidence of the prosperity of the city at that time. You should find out during a visit why the towers have two different tops.
