The "Steinitzhof" is a three-sided courtyard, which is renovated in its typical field stone construction and used as a socio-cultural integration project and community centre. At the same time it is the centre of the emerging cultural park Steinitz. There is a seasonal snack bar in the Steinitzhof.
The "Steinitzer Treppe" viewing platform is located on a 150 m high hilltop of the Steinitzer Alps on the northern edge of the Welzow-Süd open-cast mine, adjacent to the terminal moraine landscape. From a lofty height (approx. 170 m above sea level, 100 steps and 19 m above the mountain) you can enjoy a panoramic view of the region. Visually, the 117-ton steel giant is reminiscent of the boom of an open-cast mining machine. Opened in August 2012, the viewing platform is located on the highest elevation of the "Steinitzer Alps".
During opening hours the Steinitzhof offers a simple catering service. On Sundays from 14 to 17 o'clock there is also a seasonal snack possibility.
bookable offers:Guided theme hikes, e.g. on "Flora & Fauna", on the history of mining or on "Geotopes", workshops on "creative design" and collecting the "Steinitzer Alpenkräutertees", wine tastings from the "Kleiner Weinberg
