A life without computers is absolutely unimaginable today. But how did his exciting story begin? With the knowledge of those born later it is hard to imagine how Zuse and his colleagues approached the digital machine: Which material works well? Is a relay memory the right choice? Is the use of the binary system a mistake?

The computer pioneer Konrad Zuse was neither born nor died in Hoyerswerda. But the few years he spent here as a teenager in the 1920s were definitely worth making Hoyerswerda an honorary citizen in 1995 and opening a museum named after him in 2017.

Journey of discovery in our digitalized world: a world without smartphone, tablet or laptop - unimaginable today. Immerse yourself in the exciting history of the computer. On the way you will meet inventions and clever minds such as Konrad Zuse and Nikolaus Joachim Lehmann. Zuse not only graduated from high school in Hoyerswerda, but also invented the first computer and was an artist.

Be impressed by the size of the old Zuse computers. Experience a rapid development and recognize opportunities and risks of our digital world. Get to know the advantages of the binary code. Don't worry, it won't be too theoretical. We connect technology with society and art. We ask why and why. In the new, modern permanent exhibition in the ZCOM Zuse Computer Museum you can expect incredible success stories of the computer.
