In the Potsdam Museum of Natural History you can get to know Brandenburg's animal world on more than 650 square metres. On four floors, the museum shows excerpts from its extensive zoological collections. A total of over 410,000 objects are stored in the magazines "behind the scenes", so to speak. The museum's exhibitions provide insights into the biodiversity of insects, fish, birds and mammals. In addition to a brown bear in the foyer, Wolf, Elch & Co. can be seen up close on the individual floors. The cellar of the museum houses a large aquarium with a 50-year tradition. Almost 40 native fish species live there permanently, including pike, sturgeon and catfish. The exhibition "In the Trail of Man - Biological Invasions" conveys knowledge about the worldwide phenomenon of introducing new species of fungi, animals and plants into foreign habitats. While the regional biological diversity is shown in the parks and gardens of the state capital Potsdam in the exhibition "Animal Life in the UNESCO World Heritage".
