The "lying Eiffel Tower of Lusatia" offers exciting insights into the history of mining and uplifting views over the Lusatian Lakeland.

11,000 tons, 80 meters high, 200 meters wide and half a kilometer long: a giant rests in the south of Brandenburg. Respectfully, visitors approach the complex, which lies majestically in the heath landscape near Lichterfeld. The former F60 overburden conveyor bridge is undoubtedly the most spectacular relic of opencast lignite mining in Lusatia. It is the largest mobile machine in the world.

Since 1992, the monumental construction has remained silent; its shape, dimensions and weight are reminiscent of the Eiffel Tower. Far-sighted citizens saved them from scrapping. Together with the International Building Exhibition (IBA) Fürst-Pückler-Land, they laid the foundation stone for the most fascinating place of experience in Lusatian mining history. Day after day, mine guides - some of them former miners themselves - invite you to make informative tours of the industrial giant.

The visitor groups with the green helmets on the colossus look like ant trails. They climb up to a height of 74 metres and experience not only a fascinating insight into the world of coal mining, but also, on a clear day, a view that extends far beyond the region to Saxon Switzerland. And the bravest don't go down. They're abseiling. On the F60, history becomes a tangible adventure.

By the way: the coal from the Klettwitz-Nord open-cast mine here was processed into high-temperature coke at the Lauchhammer coking plant. A unique procedure! Today, one can still visit the bio-towers of this complex in Lauchhammer.
Tip:Treat yourself to an unforgettable dinner on the F60 at a height of 60 metres. Or give away the F60 dinner as a gift voucher.
