The The Brandenburg Academy of Tourism (TAB) is a cooperative venture between important players in the Brandenburg tourist economy with decentralised operations. These comprise the Ministry of Commerce and European Affairs, the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry for Work, Social Affairs, Health and Women, the State Working Committee for Chambers of Industry and Commerce for the State of Brandenburg, the East German Association of Savings Banks for its member savings banks in Brandenburg, the Brandenburg Hotel and Guest House Association, the Brandenburg Camping Association, the Brandenburg Spa and Health Resorts Association, Tourismus-Marketing Brandenburg GmbH and the State Tourist Association for Brandenburg.

In addition to the three columns "Service Quality Germany in Brandenburg", "Training and Further Training Opportunities offered by the Partners" and "Own Specialist Events" the theme of  "barrier-free tourism" as a cross-sectional theme runs through all the fields of activity covered by the TAB.

The TAB is supported by funding from the Ministry of Commerce and European Affairs for the State of Brandenburg.

The Brandenburg Academy of Tourism TAB organises tailor-made training courses, seminars and workshops on the theme of "barrier-free tourism". All training courses are aimed at the ever-growing market of older visitors, visitors with restricted mobility, visitors with sensory impairments, visitors with learning difficulties / "intellectual impairments" and visitors with allergies and special dietary requirements. The events organised help operators to improve their quality of service for these groups of visitors and to further development the deals and facilities they offer.

Courses: topics adapted to suit the needs of the particular company and based on the seminars and workshops offered by the TAB
Cost: from 1200 Euros plus VAT (up to 15 participants)

The Brandenburg Academy of Tourism was awarded a Special Prize by the Willy Scharnow Foundation at the ITB Berlin 2011. The submission under the slogan "Further Training Opportunities in Barrier-free Tourism: safeguarding the future by thinking barrier-free" won the jury over. In addition to the series of basic seminars "Brandenburg for All – Barrier-free Tourism", the in-depth theme-specific workshops along with the presentation of barrier-free offers received a commendation on www.barrierefrei-brandenburg.de.
